Skiing for free every day? Yes please!
When the lifts close for the season, work doesn’t stop for us here at Meriski HQ! A huge amount of planning goes on over the summer months to ensure we are fully prepared for the season ahead. One of the key jobs for us during this time is recruiting our seasonal staff.
We spend a lot of time recruiting the right people; true hospitality professionals, who we can trust to ensure our impeccable service standards are delivered and that our guests’ expectations are not just met, but exceeded.
Our Team
This year we will have an Executive Chef, Richard, working in the resort to oversee all of our chalet chefs. We are passionate about food and Richard will be responsible for ensuring that our guests enjoy the finest food and dining experiences.
Our chefs are assisted by chalet hosts who keep the chalets clean and tidy and are on hand to serve food and drinks as well as answering any questions on the chalets, our service, the resort – in fact just about anything!
Of course it’s not just our chefs and hosts that contribute to the success of our guests’ holidays. Drivers ensure a seamless transfer for our guests between their chalet and the slopes, operating an in-resort chauffeur service from 8am to 10pm every day, as well as airport transfers (subject to availability).
Nannies complete the team and are on hand to ensure the little ones are kept thoroughly entertained so everyone can enjoy their holiday!
Whatever their role within the team, our staff are selected for their skills, experience and attitude. Catherine Whittaker , who oversees our recruitment says she looks for “experienced, mature, flexible staff who are keen to provide the highest levels of service to our Meriski guests”.
Whilst our expectations of our staff may be high, we also pride ourselves on being a great company to work for and we make sure that they are well rewarded.
The rewards of working a ski season
Working a ski season may be hard work but it is undoubtedly fun too! We know how much effort our staff put into their jobs and believe it is only right that they are able to enjoy everything that the mountains have to offer – and the best perk? Skiing everyday of course!
We asked Olivia Palmer-Jeffery, who recently joined Meriski HQ after working as a Chalet Host, to tell us what she thought was the best thing about doing a season and she said “no guest I looked after was the same, I was constantly adapting to meet the guests needs, which was very rewarding and gave me the experience to be confident in a variety of situations. It was also great to meet so many different people, from guests, to colleagues to people you meet on the slopes – everyone has a story to tell!”
