Looking for the best sun terraces in the Three Valleys? Here are our top tips…

Whilst we are currently thoroughly enjoying all the fresh snow that has just fallen here in Méribel, we are also starting to think about the weeks ahead and the magic that is Spring skiing.

That time of year when the sun shines, the days get longer and you can enjoy one of the greatest pleasures on a skiing holiday – finding a sun soaked terrace and relaxing over a long leisurely lunch!

Luckily, not only is the Three Valleys blessed with some of the best skiing in the world, the area also boasts an enviable collection of mountain restaurants – many with suitably fabulous terraces!

So here, in no particular order, are our picks for your best springtime lunch stops:

Le Bouc Blanc

At the top of the La Tania bubble, this restaurant has a huge sun deck, excellent value food and efficient and friendly service – what’s not to love?

Le Panoramic

Perched at the top of Saulire, both the snack bar and the fine dining restaurant have excellent terraces, the latter marginally better for enjoying the superb views over Courchevel!

Le Bel Air

At the top of the Ariondaz bubble in Courchevel 1650, this hugely popular restaurant has a fabulous sun terrace with views over the piste. Excellent food at reasonable prices means booking for the terrace is essential on sunny days.

Fire and Ice, Portetta Hotel

Enjoy a morning’s ski in Courchevel 1650 before skiing down to the village and finding Portetta Hotel at the bottom of the main pistes. Their terrace restaurant, Fire and Ice, has fire pits, ice shots and a wood fired pizza oven.

Le Cap Horn

This legendary Courchevel 1850 restaurant has a huge terrace with a DJ, from where you can watch the private planes jet in to the nearby altiport. There is a serious fine dining menu with a (hefty) price tag to match, but a more affordable snack menu is also available if you want to go and soak up the atmosphere without blowing the budget!

Le Coeur de Cristal

Located off the Rhodos piste with a lovely terrace the restaurant offers traditional food and an extensive wine list, with marvellous views of the ski runs from the terrace.

Les Crêtes

This popular lunch spot at the top of the Tougnete lift offers traditional food, friendly service and a sunny terrace with views over the Belleville valley on one side and the Meribel valley on the other.

La Cantine D’Alvar

If you are looking for a sunny lunch spot in Meribel itself, La Cantine D’Alvar has a large terrace and an excellent choice of food. A perfect meeting spot just next to the Chaudanne.

Chalet de la Marine

High up on the piste in Val Thorens, choose between the gourmet restaurant’s balcony or the self-service bistro’s terrace, and sit back and enjoy the stunning views and sunshine.

Le Corbeleys

Tucked away on the side of the piste at the top of the Saint Martin 1 lift, this restaurant offers traditional Savoyard specialties, alongside superb views of the Belleville valley from the sun soaked terrace.

There are, of course, many more restaurants to choose from throughout the Three Valleys and our Meriski Concierge service is always available to help with recommendations and bookings.
