Celebrating 34 years of Meriski in Méribel!
It’s hard to believe that we have now been operating in Méribel for over 30 years!
Undoubtedly, we have come a long way since those first seasons but our objectives were clear from the outset – to offer our guests a quality product, from the chalet itself to the food and service, and to be THE Méribel specialists.
For our first season in 1984-85, we operated Le Grenon in La Gittaz, a four-bedroom, two-bathroom chalet, from which we shuttled our guests to the slopes in a Ford Transit van – and thus the resort shuttle was born!
Over the next few years we refined our collection, developing our commitment to quality by starting to take on chalets that had en suite facilities in every bedroom. By the Olympic Season of 1992 we had eight chalets, establishing ourselves with a group of chalets in the Musillon area – a stronghold we still have to this day.
At its largest in 2003, our portfolio was seventeen chalets, but over the last fourteen years it has steadied at around ten chalets, which is the number we have today.
We select our chalets extremely carefully, as we constantly strive to ensure that our portfolio offers our guests the best choice of chalets in Méribel, with a selection to suit all tastes and budgets.
Some of our chalets have been in our portfolio for many years, including the ever popular Chalet Bellevue and the brilliantly located Chalets Bambis and L’Ardour. Our most recent additions are both newly built state of the art chalets, Chalet Caro and the superb Chalet Le Grenier, arguably the ultimate Méribel ski chalet.
Our team in resort is crucial to the high quality of our holidays. We spend a lot of time recruiting the right people; true hospitality professionals, who we can trust to ensure our impeccable service standards are delivered and that our guests’ expectations are not just met, but exceeded.
And what is one of the most important elements of a chalet holiday, aside from the skiing? Food and drink of course! We are extremely passionate about food and drink and to ensure our continuing high standards, last season we appointed an Executive Chef to oversee all of the Chalet Chefs. Richard will return this season and will be focusing on the provenance of the ingredients used in our dishes as well as French and Savoyard flavours.
And then of course, there is the resort itself – Méribel. During the years we have been here, Méribel has also evolved into the world class resort it is today as it prepares to mark it’s 80th year of founding by Colonel Peter Lindsay in 1938.
The resort’s unrivalled position at the heart of Les Trois Vallees (the largest ski area in the world) and it’s picturesque charm keep skiers returning year after year.
We have a wealth of knowledge of both the ski area and the resort, and are here to assist our guests with every aspect of their holiday – we are, after all, ‘the Méribel Specialists’.
We are in the final stages now of preparation for the season ahead, so do keep an eye on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages as well as this Blog – we will be bringing you more details on our team in resort as well as what you can expect from us this season!
We look forward to welcoming our guests this season and here’s to the next thirty years in Méribel!
