The lowdown

A family run hotel in the Swiss village of Verbier, Hotel Vanessa is a place to return year after year. It’s been a Verbier stalwart since the seventies, but has recently been refurbished to delight a new generation of guests. Also new this year, talented Michelin starred chef Mirto Marchesi has opened l’Atelier de Mirto, with a gourmet menu that combines emotions and traditions. The hotel’s cream and beige spa could belong in the Cotswolds, and is an oasis of calm when you’re not exploring the 4 Vallées. When it comes to skiing, you have one of the largest ski areas in all of the Alps on your doorstep, with over 400km of ski slopes to discover. The village’s Place Central is precisely 50 meters away, with a wide variety of shops, bars, restaurants and more.

Decor

The decor in this 4* hotel is low key yet stylish, flooded with natural light from the many balconies and sun windows. The interiors have been tastefully renovated with a muted cream and beige palate, local pine panelling and a splash of traditional Alpine upholstery throughout.

Enjoy traditional alpine dining with a twist at the newly opened restaurant L’Atelier de Mirto. The gourmet spot is run by starred chef Mirto Marchesi, who is delighted to offer guests à la carte lunch and dinner. The menu aims to showcase seasonal produce and locally grown fruit and vegetables, fish from Alpine lakes and meat near-by farms. Highlights include Mont d’Or snails, rack of lamb, and Cheese fondue from Verbier Creamerie.
