The lowdown

There are no wooden beams or tartan tablecloths here – true to its name, Experimental Chalet is unlike anything else in Verbier. Located in the heart of the Swiss village, the high-altitude hotel is a hot spot for extreme sports and après-ski lovers from across the globe, located just a few minutes from the slopes. The Alpine essence is all there, with a splash of excitement brought in from the Experimental Group’s various other outposts, from New York to Ibiza. There’s the iconic Farm Club nightclub on your doorstep, and in the place of a lobby, the bar has become the hotel’s social hub, proving a definitive spot for après-ski festivities. It’s not all about partying, though, as a hot tub, hammam and solarium in the stunning spa beckon after a day pounding the slopes. Indulge in modern French and Swiss classics by an acclaimed chef, and take a break from the gluhwein in the creative cocktail bar.

  • Prime village location, with a private shuttle to take guests to the slopes nearby
  • Funky and contemporary decor, with an international vibe inspired by 1950s jet-setting
  • Boutique spa with yoga classes and massage facilities

Decor

The decor in this 4* hotel can be described as retro chic. With open spaces and natural light, it is inspired by mid-century resorts and Art Deco design. The comfortable, minimalist design by Milanese architect Fabrizio Casiraghi is all about deep jewel and sorbet tones, lacquered wood and velvet trimmings. We especially love the iconic navy blue and white tiled bathrooms.

Rooms and Suites

Experimental Chalet offers a selection of 39 rooms and suites, some with terraces, jacuzzies or panoramic views of the surrounding Alpines peaks and Mont Combin. The rooms have a Samsung TV, signature Experimental minibar stocked with homemade cocktails, Geneva retro radio and Amici coffee machine, among other goodies.

Après ski and dining

Breakfasts are wholesome and filling, with homemade granola and freshly baked sourdough, and there’s a snack hour every afternoon. Much-loved Parisian chef Gregory Marchand runs Frenchie restaurant, which freshens up mountain food with contemporary flair in a casually elegant setting. There’s also a chef’s table and a fabulous selection of sharing plates. In the bar and Farm Club, enjoy signature craft cocktails and an expert selection of wines and spirits. The bar is ideal hideaway for après-ski get-togethers, pre- dinner drinks or as the launchpad for a late night in the legendary nightclub, a Verbier hot spot for over 45 years.
